Marvelous Molding Paste

Greetings Everyone!
I wanted to show you some samples for my new class this month-Marvelous Molding Paste.
In this 6th class in my Texture and Collage Series we will be experimenting with Regular Molding Paste (Golden). This is a very cool product to use. Its smooth and gives an almost Porcelin type finish that both resists and takes acrylic paints in amazing ways. It can hold peaks; It can be used with stencils or stamped into to create wonderful texture. My favorite thing is to actually use this product to mold into background scenery or even a mermaids tail!
I am teaching this class at Luna's Memories on Saturday March 7th from 11:00am to 2:00pm
and on Thurdsay March the 12th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The fee for this class is $35.00.
So call Luna's Memories at 650 726-1444 to reserve your spot!
Come and Play!

In this class we will alter a discared Cigarillo tin with a faux Rust techinque! We then will then make these tins a true work of art by using collage and assemblage. I still have space left in this class so call Stampbug at 831 772-0815 to reserve your spot. As you might know Stampbug will be closing on April 15th. Urban myth or reality?

Greetings everyone! I found this sign on one of my morning rambles around El Granada. It is said that Aligators in the sewers are an urban myth but Crocodiles are never mentioned. Hmmmm. I'll let you decide.

Faux Beeswax Collage class

Greetings everyone!
I just wanted to remind you that I will be teaching Faux Beeswax Collage for the last time at Luna's Memories this Thursday night (the 19th) from 6:00 to 9:00pm. You really don't want to miss this technique guys. We will start with the Luminous Gel Medium Technique and then turn it into a beeswax look using the recipe from Chris Cozen's book Altered Surfaces. This technique uses absolutely no beeswax! It's all done with Soft Gel Medium and acrylic paints. No messy beeswax to melt, no burns and no special oil paints to color the surface with. What's more, you can add layers of "beeswax" to get that mystical partially seen look and even imbed items into the Faux beeswax mix. The scans that you see above do not do this technique justice. Most people that look at my samples cannot tell the difference! They cannot believe that there is no beeswax at all involved. So call Luna's Memories at 650 726-1444 to reserve your spot while there are still spaces left.
See you in class!

Let not your heart be troubled

Greetings Everyone!
Well the dreaded news has come at last. The notice that Luna's Memories will definately be closing its doors. For all of you that are depressed and in despair I need to tell you a story that might help. I just received a note from a very nice Artist that bought my assemblage "Let not Your Heart Be Troubled". She is going through a very difficult time right now and is trying to continue to function normally. When she saw the words "Let not your Heart be troubled" on the piece it had very special meaning. So much so that she bought the piece and took it home with her immediately. She said that it reminded her to not despair and Let not her Heart be troubled. This is a very brave woman. I think that we, Luna's family must remember this as well. Let not our hearts be troubled. We will continue. We will find a way to continue our creative family. I know this for certain. I don't know how I know this-I just do.
That said I want to thank Carina from Scrapbook Depot for allowing me to teach at her shop this weekend. She has a wonderful shop and great teaching space. For all of you that have never been there-check it out!
Both of my Rubberstamped Dominos classes were a blast. And I had several new students that I think took home a dominos addiction! Just remember-its not my fault!

Attack of the Mushroom People

Greetings, I found these mushrooms at the Presidio last week. If they look enormous thats because they were. Truthfully-these were the biggest mushrooms I've ever seen. Very creepy fungus. I'll bet they're sentient. Sweet Dreams everyone.

Class and MCoffee Reception

Greetings Everyone
Well its been an awsome Weekend. Faux Beeswax Collage class yesterday was a blast! It was one more class in which my students left me speechless. We had two new students and their collages were amazing. I have posted pictures of the students and their pieces above.
After Class The Coastside Mixed Media Artists held a reception at M.Coffee on Main Street in Half Moon Bay. I was thrilled that almost all of the Artists were able to attend. In fact most of the time the small Coffee shop was packed! I am happy to announce that we have also had some sales. Ann Carlson sold a triptych collage and Cindy McCool has had a runaway business on her soldered Dominos! I was also informed this morning that I sold an assemblage as well. So far so good! A local merchant said that she thought the show is one of the nicest ones that M. Coffee has had. With three weeks still to go this bodes well. It think that we will see more sales to come. I want to thank everyone that helped with the reception last night. It was an incredible spread and made the reception a resounding sucess!
If you live here on the coast or if you will be visiting in the month of February don't miss this show . The art works on display are truly stunning!
Hope to see you soon!

Coastside Mixed Media Artist showing

Greetings,
I want to announce a very special event. It's the Coastside Mixed Media Artists showing and sale at M Coffee. M Coffee is located at 522 Main Street in downtown Half Moon Bay. This is a showing that I put together for myself, some of my students and fellow teachers. Our Art will be on the walls at M Coffee for the entire month of Feb. We just hung everything this morning and the work looks great! In fact it looks astounding ! The Art ranges from Dominos to Mixed Media, Collage and assemblage. In fact this is a showing that is like no other seen here in Half Moon Bay. We are having the reception this Saturday at M. Coffee starting at 6:30 to 8:00. There will be refreshments so everyone is invited. I am calling on all locals to support our efforts by coming to the reception or stopping by M .Coffee some time during the month of Feb. to check out our Art. While you're there buy a cup of their awsome Coffee and something to eat to help support a local vendor as well. For some of the artists exhibiting ,this is their first time and it is vital to have fellow artists feedback.
Here are some pictures . We hope to see you at the reception!

Wonderful Weekend

Well its been an incredible weekend. Maria's Assemdog class was awsome! We got a thorough grounding on glues and their properties! It will help greatly as I continue experimenting with assemblage. I would show you my dog but I got a little carried away and did not finish the poor thing. I promise to post a picture when my dog is no longer naked.
As for my Black Gesso class-what can I say? It was another class filled with exceptionally talented artists. Here are some pictures!
