Great class last night

Greetings everyone,
Last night I taught my new texture and collage class. This time we experimented with Pumice Gel. All the students really embraced the "experimentation" part of this class. They were very willing to try new things and to really play with this texture medium. I think this takes a very courageous person. One that is willing to sacrifice making that "perfect" piece to step outside the box and become in the end a better artist. I think their work was the better for it last night. But I'll let all of you decide. Check out their pieces above!
I want to thank LaDiDa for again hosting this class!

Class this Saturday night

Greetings everyone! I wanted to remind you all about my class this saturday night in Half Moon Bay. This will be my last texture and collage class this year. This month we will be experimenting with Pumice Gel. Here are all the particulars: Pumice Gel Where: LaDiDa Cafe in Half Moon Bay In this class we will experiment with fine and coarse Pumice Gels. What’s the difference? Fine Pumice dries translucent-a sandpaper version of Gel medium. Coarse Pumice-think “stone in a jar”. I always think of Ancient ruins and Egyptian Pyramids when I use Pumice gel. So come and join the class and find out what treasures you can unearth using this incredible medium. Please bring scissors and paintbrushes. All other materials will be supplied. The time for the class : 6:00 pm to 9:00pm Fee: $35.00 If you wish to attend this class please email me at connie@isbjorn.com
Please see the samples of Pumice Gel Below and the new one above call Pharoh's treasure.
I hope to see you in class!

Pumice Gel

Greetings everyone!
For my new class this weekend I have been playing with Pumice Gel by Golden Products. This is very cool stuff. Fine pumice is like using Gel medium mixed with a little bit of sandpaper. You can stencil with and stamp into Fine Pumice gel easily. It dries translucent like Gel Medium but is a little bit gritty. Coarse Pumice gel is like "stone in a jar". When mixed with regular molding paste it spreads easily despite the larger chunks of pumice and it stencils great. Both pumice gels pair with Micaceous Iron Oxide beautifully and take acrylic paint easily. When I use this product I always think of ancient ruins and Egyptian Pyramids which explain a couple of the collages above. Check them out!

Class on Saturday!-Happy Labor Day

Happy labor day everyone!
On Saturday I taught a Black Gesso class at Scrapbook U in Fremont. You can see despite my poor photography that these pieces were just amazing! Even the unfinished ones! I admit that Black Gesso initially was a difficult medium for me. I wasn't quite sure what to do with it and how to meld the collage images with the iridescent and interference colors I wanted to use. So I'm a little envious. This class immediately knew what to do! I want to thank all the students that braved the extra traffic caused by the Bay Bridge closing to attend the class. And as always I want to thank Monica Martinek and her staff for allowing me to teach at Scrapbook U.

Class this weekend

Greetings Everyone, After my buying spree last weekend I've had to float back down to earth at last. I have been working dilligently and preparing for my class this weekend :Black Gesso. In case you are interested in this class here are all the particulars: Black Gesso Where: Scrapbook U in Fremont Description: In this third Gesso class we will experiment with black Gesso and pair it with collage. Not only can you make designs in Black Gesso, it is also the perfect ground on which to apply iridescent and interference colors. Please bring scissors and a variety of paint brushes. All other materials will be supplied. Come and Play! Time: 11:00am to 2:00pm Fee: $40.00 To sign up for this class please call Scrapbook U at: 510 490-5065
I have prepared more class samples as you can see above. I've been obsesssed with pairing the matte black Gesso with sparkly glaze, iridescent and interference colors and especially Micaceous Iron Oxide. Because there is so much sparkle on these collages they didn't scan as well as I wanted but you get the idea.
I hope to see you on Saturday!
