Announcing..................

Greetings everyone! Well at long last I've found a new space to teach at here along the coast. This time it won't be in someone else's shop it will be my own studio! EEEEKKKK! Yes I was fortunate enough to find that rarest of rare things here on the coast. A space that I can call my own. This very small 12 x12 space has all the amenities: a private bathroom, great natural light, electricity and water. Like I said-rare. I will be renting from a wonderful artist in icing! Her name is Susan Morgan and she owns and operates Elegant Cheesecakes. If you haven't see her website do check it out. Susan is a true artist. These cakes are like nothing you've ever seen before. They are exquisite and yummy at the same time. I need not say this is a little frightening to me. It's certainly not what I expected to do at this point in my artistic career. But I know that its vital to step through all the doors that open up scary or not. I have a ton of ideas for the studio. I mean the possibilities are endless! Here are some of the programs that I will be offering for the opening month of June: Private studio time – this is for artists and art groups looking to rent studio space to work or to get together during the week-the times and fees are to be arranged on an individual basis. If you are interested in private studio please email me. Open Studio- This is studio time open to everyone for only $10.00. I will have open studios every Friday and on the weekends when no classes are being offered. I am hoping that this will be a place for artists to gather and exchange ideas and to catch up on all the gossip. Altered Books Club-This is held on the third Wednesday of every month for a $10.00 fee per person. Not just for altered book enthusiasts. Anyone can attend and bring whatever project you are currently working on! Classes: Classes will be held most weekends and some weeknights. Each class is priced individually. All the teachers will keep their own class lists and collect their own fees. So you will contact them directly to sign up for classes. But keep a sharp eye out during class because the teachers may also have Art to sell. Listed below is the amazing line of up teachers and classes available in June. Saturday June 12th Instructor: Ingrid Pomeroy Class: Mini Paper Theatres Description: Join Ingrid for a fun class where she will teach you to create a one-of-a-kind mini paper theater, approximately six inches tall, using rubber stamps, decorative papers, colored pens, findings and much more. Each student will be able to create his or her own version using the materials provided by Ingrid. All you need to bring are your own special small scissors for detail cutting and your imagination! Sunday June 13th, 20th and 27th Instructor: Maria Ontiveros Class: Art Journaling 1- parts 1-3 Description - This three week class, held on Sunday mornings, will give you the tools you need to get started creating an art journal as an art diary and to continue your journaling after class ends. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00pm Fee: $75.00 + $25.00 materials fee which covers a fifty page artist book filled with handmade paper, a daily journal, and 3 pens appropriate for art journaling. Materials to bring: Please bring gesso, scissors, a wet adhesive (glue, gel medium, etc.) and an assortment of paint brushes and acrylic paints. If you like, you can also bring an assortment of images and a heat tool. Additional info: Complete instructional materials and additional studio time will be available if you have to miss a class. This class was sold out recently and the participants LOVED bringing images and ephemera from their own families to personalize their projects. Kits will, as always, be provided with plenty of inspiring goodies to get you started. You'll need your basic kit of glue, scissors, and glitter plus any of your favorite things that you cannot craft without. If you have a soldering kit, bring that too. If you only have your smile bring that and we'll get you set up! BEGINNERS ENCOURAGED! Saturday June 26th Instructor: Connie Andrews Class: Altered Books #3-Pockets Description: Don’t you just love finding that forgotten $20.00 bill in a coat pocket? In this third class in the Altered Book Series we will learn two different techniques to add pockets to your Altered Book. And then the fun begins because now you have to fill them. Coastside Mixed Media Artists Show and Sale

Greetings Everyone! I am excited to announce the 2nd annual Coastside Mixed Media Artists Showing. Some of our wonderful and talents artists and teachers here along the coast including my humble self will be exhibiting and selling our Mixed Media works of art. There will be collage, assemblage, Dominos, soldered glass pieces and bamboo tiles for sale so come on over to the coast and take a look. It will be held at MCoffee on main street in beautiful Half Moon Bay so while you are feasting your eyes on the art have a cup of their excellent coffee and a bagel and just relax. We will also be having a reception from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Saturday June the 5th and all are invited. There will also be yummies to consume. This show was received very well last year and I guarantee you will not be disappointed this year. See you soon!

Molding Paste all weekend long!

Greetings everyone! Yes its Molding paste weekend! What's Molding paste? Its another wonderful texture medium from Golden. Its very durable. It dries white and opaque almost like porcelain. It's great to stamp in and stencil with. In a collage it can be used to add 3-D type effects. You can see this in the Mermaids tails above. It's perfect on the cover of an altered Book. Its just one of the most versatile texture mediums out there. If you haven't yet experimented with it how about one of my two molding paste classes this weekend? Regular Molding paste creates a smooth porcelain like surface that holds peaks and lines. Like Gel Medium it can also be stamped into or stenciled onto your surface. It can then be combined with collage images to produce a unique work of Art that is all your own. Hello everyone! After and exhausting weekend of cleaning and more cleaning I am ready to post my May/June classes. I also want to announce the 2nd Coastside Mixed Media showing for the entire month of June at MCoffee in Half Moon Bay! Our first showing last year was a great success so keep watching for upcoming information on our second showing. Here are my May/ June classes. Please note that the June schedule is not complete. Saturday May 8th Where: Scrap-It in Santa Cruz Class: Shrink Art #4-Wood and Bone Description: Don’t you love the look of old ivory or bone scrimshaw? I always think of Tall ships and mermaid images on ivory. Wood and Bone. In this 4th Shrink Art class you will learn the techniques to make white shrink plastic look like bone or ivory scrimshaw and almond colored shrink plastic look like wood. You can choose to make wood or ivory items or mix the two for a stunning combination that can be made into jewelry or decorative items for collage, cards or scrapbooks.
